Biophysical profile (BPP) is one of the tests for the detection of fetal well-being. The other tests to determine the well-being of the fetus ultrasound, amniotic fluid measurement, Doppler measurements, NST , OCT , such as tests. These tests are in distress, ie whether the fetus and uterus in the state of distress is made to understand. According to the results of these tests may need to decide whether to terminate or continue the pregnancy.
NST for biophysical profile is taken and ultrasound for 30 minutes. Ultrasound baby's movements, muscle tone, breathing and the amount of amniotic fluid is evaluated.
Well-being of the fetus should be considered when:
- Less hisedilmesi fetal movements
- Premature rupture of membranes (waters arrive early)
- Amniotic fluid is more or less
- IUGR (gerlişme retardation in the fetus)
- Postterm
- İzoimmnunizasyon (blood incompatibility)
- Fetal anomalies
- Multiple pregnancies
- Abnormal or irregular fetal heart rate
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- Kidney diseases
- Collagen tissue diseases
- Heart disease
- Thyrotoxicosis (Goitre tests disorder)
- Hemoglobinopathies
- Anemia
Biophysical profile criteria:
NST (non stress test): Reagent 2 points, if not, get 0 points.
Respiratory movements of the fetus: 30 dakikadqa 2 points if you have 3 units of breathing movements, or gets 0 points.
Tone in the fetus: fetus with open arms and backbone to understand and gets 2 points.
Amniotic fluid volume: is more than 50 points in the second.
Movements of the fetus: a 30-minute motion to make 2 or more gets 2 points.
Looking at these criteria either 0 or 2 points are awarded for each
criterion and a total of 8 or more is considered to be the condition of
the fetus. 6 and below where the state of the fetus can be a nuisance.
Biophysical factors that may affect:
These criteria affect the biophysical profile score to take the test may result in lower than normal.
Mother sedation (calming) drug use
The use of indomethacin
Cigarette
The mother's blood sugar
Steroids to the mother to the baby's lung development
